Adela is highly competent counselling psychologist, with over ten years clinical experience within the NHS and private practice.
Her broad range of therapeutic expertise (which includes CBT), enables her to tailor the therapy to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Adela can help you identify problematic patterns of thinking and behaviour and find alternative, more effective strategies for overcoming a wide range of difficulties. She excels in enabling clients develop new insights which can strengthen their ability to tackle problems effectively, enjoy better relationships and live more personally fulfilling lives.
Adela has helped clients with a wide range of difficulties including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, panic attacks, OCD, social anxiety and phobias, abuse, trauma and PTSD, anger management, career and work issues, relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, affairs, bereavement and loss, substance abuse, personality and dissociative disorders, psychosis.
Adela’s clinical work is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness techniques, and also incorporates Psychodynamic and Humanistic principles. She has additional training in solution-focused therapy, behavioural change, anger management, strength based CBT, drug and alcohol issues, self-harm and suicide management. She also has specialised knowledge and skills in working with domestic abuse, childhood trauma and issues around identity, self-esteem and relationships.
She has extensive experience, providing psychological treatments to clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs. She has worked in the NHS, within crisis and residential mental health services, as well as trauma based charity organisations and private practice.
Adela holds a DPsych in Counselling Psychology an MSc in Health Psychology, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and a PGDip in Mental health Practice.
Adela is a chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC, the independent Government appointed regulator of psychologists in the UK), and a graduate and accredited member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
She works with clients in English and Swedish.
