Irene is a highly accomplished Senior Psychotherapist and Counsellor, with over 13 years experience, working with individuals and couples. She utilizes several therapeutic models including: psychodynamic psychotherapy, solution focused therapy and CBT.
Hidden problematic roots are the most common cause for undermining client ability to establish and/or maintain lasting positive change. Irene’s passion is helping clients understand the root cause of problems and how to apply strategies for change, which are lasting and continue to improve after therapy has ended. Irene empowers her clients with the knowledge and strategies that can enable them to make the lasting changes they want in their lives.
Irene helps individuals and couples with a wide range of difficulties including: anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorders, depression, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), low self-confidence, phobias and fears, OCD, work and career issues, relationship issues, family issues, separation and divorce, sexual issues, postnatal depression, fertility, anger management, addiction, bereavement, abuse, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, childhood related difficulties, gender identity issues.
Irene has developed her clinical expertise in a range of settings including: employee assistance programs, and drug and alcohol agencies, charities and private practice. Helping clients overcome anxiety and panic is central to her work. Irene has worked with many indivuals and couples to help them understand and improve relationship problems at home, in work, with friendships, partners and with people wanting to find a relationship. She has considerable experience helping people address work place issues, including managing difficult relationships, improving work performance and career change. Irene also has specialist knowledge and experience in working with trauma and abuse, severe anxiety and depression and loss and emotional deprivation.
Irene is a fully qualified and registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who holds professional membership with the UKCP, the BACP and subscribes to the BACP and the UKCP ethical framework and Code of Professional Conduct. Irene is a professional member of The Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy, through the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis.
